Walking in Cheshire

Walking and walking holidays are more popular than ever. Cheshire is ideal walking country with pretty lowland countryside and sandstone hills. The famous Cheshire Plain means you can enjoy a relaxing walk on level land – or a more energetic upland walk with tremendous views across Cheshire to the Welsh hills.

The Sandstone Trail is only a couple of miles away, and many people enjoy walking a section of the trail. The Peckforton Hills section is particularly pretty, at any time of year.

Circular walks are easy to plan, and we have a good selection of guides and walking maps at Hill House Farm to lend you.

After an enjoyable day tramping the fields, you can ease off your walking boots, leave the walking poles in your room and enjoy a restorative cup of tea in the guests lounge – where you can gaze across at the hills you’ve just been walking across!
